United Through Reading Storytime Starter Kit 2022

First Book has partnered with nonprofit United Through Reading to share their high quality collection of 30 titles ranging from board books to Middle Grade novels with our network of teachers and program staff. United Through Reading (UTR) encourages members of our armed forces to read with loved ones both in person and via recording if the serviceman or woman is away from home for active duty assignments, training or deployment. UTR has sent books to over 200 locations around the world so that service members can be video-recorded reading aloud to their children, classrooms full of kids, or their nieces and nephews.

Storytime Starter Kits are a collection of new, high-quality and thematically appropriate books. Each Storytime Starter Kit includes titles that can be read to a baby in utero, a child on his first day of school, or to a high schooler on her birthday. The United Through Reading program encourages early childhood literacy and strengthens family bonds until the service member returns home. Participation in the United Through Reading is free to servicemen and women and connects military families in spite of the miles and oceans that often separate them.
