First Book has created this collection in partnership with LAUP to help you reduce the 30 Million Word Gap among the children you serve. This collection includes 19 hand-picked early childhood books and a set of LAUP's bilingual Take Time. Talk! conversation cards to help you engage families.

LAUP created Take Time. Talk! Giving Children the Words They Need to help strengthen the vocabulary skills of all young children by providing parents and caregivers with powerful tools to help their children develop exceptional vocabulary skills. Take Time. Talk! cards prompt parents and caregivers with conversation starters and questions to ask young children while reading together or spending time together during activities and routines. By engaging young children in conversation early and often, parents and caregivers lay the critical foundation for vocabulary, oral language skill and literacy development.
