It's Library Day
In short bursts of rhyme, this introduces kids who read (“Jennifer Gaines / likes to read about trains”) and captures the excitement they feel when it’s library day at school. This multiethnic group of kids (Ernesto Flores, Uma Rasheed) enjoys going to the library, where Miss Faye finds each one the perfect book “because she knows just where to look.” The text is short enough for a preschool audience, but this will appeal most to slightly older children already in a school setting, who may be able to use this as an easy reader. The pure-colored illustrations, with an almost graphic edge, have tons of appeal. They fill up the pages with kids choosing, reading, and sharing. Children can easily (and hopefully will) see themselves in the faces of these happy readers.
