All the townspeople are summoned by a proclamation from the famous and mysterious Mr. Nod to attend a wonderful ceremony. It turns out to be the unveiling of a statue of Augustus Nod made of pure gold and missing its limbs. A contest is proposed to find the golden limbs. The stakes are high because the fortune goes to the winner! Edgar and Ellen must outwit the greedy townspeople as they rush to find the clues, solve the riddles, and locate the limbs. But will they do so in time to save their home and their beloved Pet?
"Cartoonlike and gently gruesome drawings by Carton reinforce the mystery and sense of humor in the text. Readers of the series will surely enjoy this fast-paced adventure of the diabolical duo." -- Children's Literature
